Protect Your Energy: Borrow These 4 Witchy Rituals

protect your energy
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hello Cool-Girls ! Modern life already demands a great deal of our energy: commuting to work, the need to stay productive all day, then coming home in the evening to take care of our “second life”. Many of us are already living at the limit of our resources, which explains why certain everyday moments can literally drain us: a trip to a crowded supermarket, a passive-aggressive colleague, a client who unloads their emotional burden onto us. Rest is not always enough to recharge our batteries, because this kind of fatigue is sometimes psychological in nature. In this context, the witch community uses protective rituals to reconnect with the power of one’s inner core. An exhausting society tends to cut us off from this power, the one that links instinct and consciousness and by extension our lived reality. Ritual then creates and anchors a powerful intention, an inner stance that accompanies us and protects our energy throughout the day in the face of external aggressions. That’s why I’ve put together below my top 4 favorite protection rituals to protect your energy.

1. Get a talisman to protect your energy

Carrying a “talisman” when leaving the house is one of the rituals found in many practices. It is an object to which we assign a “protective” intention and it accompanies us whenever we wear it or keep it nearby. This could be a piece of jewelry, a stone, a coin, etc.. What matters is the intention we put into the object.

I particularly like using the celestial eye obsidian as a talisman. In crystal healing, this stone is believed to have protective properties: it repels negative energies and, by extension, toxic people. To preserve its properties, it is important to regularly cleanse it with mineral water or smoke and also to recharge it under the moon or sunlight.

2. Take a purifying bath

protect your energy bath

Bathing holds an important place in witch rituals and is particularly used to cleanse the body of external energies, thereby offering protection. It is part of the witch’s “hygiene.” Whenever you feel drained after a tough day or a difficult conversation, draw yourself a bath.

With intention, add “purifying” elements such as Epsom salt, chamomile, rosemary or eucalyptus. During the bath, visualize the negative energy leaving your aura. When you get out, visualize again the negative energy lingering in the water and then leaving through the drain. Now your aura is clean once more !

(It’s also a beautiful New Year’s ritual for clearing your aura and starting fresh.)

3. Braid your hair with intention

Braiding your hair is an everyday gesture that may seem “innocuous”, yet it’s one of the most accessible ways to protect yourself when you don’t have any “professional” tools ! What matters most is the intention you put into it.

Before leaving the house in the morning, choose a hidden strand of hair at the back of your head. Then, start braiding this strand while focusing on your intention for the day: “I am protected.” Repeat this intention at each knot and finish by tying it with a small elastic. This will “seal” the intention and protect you throughout the day.

4. Master the Art of Smudging

master the art of smudging

Smudging is a practice that many of us do without knowing its “magical” properties. How many of us have lit an incense stick just to “finish” our cleaning routine ? Certain elements, like frankincense, Palo Santo, myrrh or benzoin are known for their purifying properties.

It’s important to choose the scent you like best. Then, at the end of your cleaning, light it, open your windows and move through each room of your home. Set the intention to chase away old energy with the smoke and have it replaced by fresh, pure air. Once you’ve gone through every corner, I recommend leaving the windows open for a while. You can also take this opportunity to cleanse your crystals, if you have any !

Check out these Palo Santo matches, I love using them when I want to purify, but I’m not at home (ad)
