Hello Cool-Girls ! Firstly I wanted to start this article by inviting you to read my last article What is Divine Feminine Energy ?. I explained that feminine and masculine energy are not strictly male or female as claimed on Tiktok. They are complementary aspects present in everyone. Nevertheless we can observe that the characteristics associated to the divine feminine energy are more and more lacking in our society. Maybe you wondered why you were a women with too much masculine energy. Societies (or Cultures) have demonized feminine energy for millennia. This legacy continues to shape the world of work. Women in today’s globalized capitalism often feel pressure to adopt a more masculine approach to succeed.

1. How Feminine energy was demonized ?

Throughout history, many cultures have revered goddesses representing the Divine Feminine, such as Gaia, Lilith, Isis, Athena, Aphrodite, and Artemis. Patriarchal societies and monotheistic religions demonized and repressed the Divine Feminine in various ways. This shift has contributed to an imbalance where masculine energy often takes precedence.

The witch hunt: Religious and patriarchal authourites persecuted and accused of withcraft women, often healers or holders of ancestral knowledge. This hunt took place from the 15th to the 17th century. It made it possible to physically and symbolically eliminate women deemed too powerful or independent.

The devaluation of feminine energy traits: Qualities traditionally associated with the feminine, such as intuition, empathy and compassion, have been devalued. They were seen as inferior to masculine qualities such as rationality, strength and assertiveness.

Spheres of power excluded women: From areas of political, economic and religious power. They were relegated to the home and the domestic sphere. Their voice and contribution to society have been largely ignored and downplayed.

The use of religious figures: Female religious figures like Eve, were often depicted as sinful and responsible for the fall of humanity. She have been used to justify the subordination of women.

The control of women bodies: sexuality of women always been repressed and controlled by men. For instance, through the institutionalization of marriage and the promotion of virginity until marriage. By controlling their sexuality it was a way for patriachal society to have a control on women body. An indirect control on procreation giving more men a “right” to have offspring.

The erasure of female deities: Female deities, worshiped in many pre-patriarchal cultures, were demonized or equated with demonic figures by patriarchal religions.

2.  Be a Women with Too much Masculine energy to survive ?

Even with feminism’s gains in financial liberty, capitalism still repress feminine energy as it values much more masculine energy traits such as : performance, action, intellect. This makes it harder to fit in without falling into an excess of masculine energy.

Women are often pressured to develop a majority of masculine energy features to fit with the “needs” of corporate culture. These feminine energy traits such as : creativity, emotional intelligence, collaboration are relegated to the background.

That wouldn’t be a problem if they were not expected to embrace leadership at home too. According to the Pew Research Center’s analysis of 2016-2021 American Time Use Survey (IPUMS) in marriages where both spouses earn the same amount and in marriages where the women is the primary earner:

  • Women pick up a heavier load when it comes to household chores and caregiving responsibilities
  • Men spend more time on work and leisure
  • On average Women spent 11,5 hours each week on household chores and caregiving responsabilities when Men spent only 7 hours.

What’s more, men too are also victims of society’s injunctions such as: “men don’t cry” or “be strong”. As a result lack of feminine energy characteristics. We can observe than many are not in touch with their emotions and suffer in silence

Above all this global energy imbalance of masculine and feminine energies could be a root cause of many social problems, including declining mental health, toxic work cultures, increased greed, criminality, and a lack of empathy. To address this, we need a multifaceted approach. Women who feel pressured to adopt excessive masculine energy to explore ways to reconnect with their feminine strengths. Finally, men can benefit from cultivating a healthier balance by integrating more traditionally feminine qualities like empathy and emotional intelligence.
